Terms of Use
General
The website https://digicommons.org/ (hereinafter the “Website”) is the official website for the conference Digital Commons: Infrastructures, Design, and the Ethics of Autonomy, co-organized on 8 –10 October 2026 by the Department of Social Anthropology of Panteion University and the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT) of NCSR Demokritos. The Website is owned by NCSR Demokritos and its content is produced and managed specifically by the IIT.
Use of the Website is governed by the terms set out in this document (hereinafter the “Terms of Use”) and applies to all users of the Website (hereinafter the “Visitors”). Visitors who wish to participate in the conference Digital Commons: Infrastructures, Design, and the Ethics of Autonomy must also consult the terms and conditions of participation in the conference, accessible at https://digicommons.org/call-for-papers/. Where the Website includes specific content governed by different or supplementary terms, such specific terms shall prevail over the Terms of Use.
By navigating or accessing the Website, Visitors acknowledge and unconditionally accept the Terms of Use and are required to comply with them. Any Visitor who does not agree with the Terms of Use must refrain from using the Website and its content.
Permitted Use
Use of the Website shall be conducted solely for lawful purposes and in a lawful manner.
Visitors to the Website shall refrain from any acts or omissions that may in any way undermine, disrupt, or otherwise adversely affect the proper functioning or availability of the Website.
Limitation of Liability
Every effort is made to ensure that the content of the Website is complete, accurate, truthful, up-to-date, and continuously available. Nevertheless, NCSR “Demokritos” does not guarantee that the pages and content of the Website will be provided without interruption or errors, nor that there will be no network-related issues that may hinder use of the Website.
Every effort is also made to ensure that the content of the Website is secure and free from malicious software. However, NCSR “Demokritos” does not warrant that the Website, any external websites it links to, or the servers that host it are free of viruses or other harmful components. Visitors are solely responsible for protecting their own systems/devices and assume all risks that may arise from navigating or using the Website, as well as any direct or indirect damage resulting from such risks.
Intellectual Property and License of Use
All original content on the Website, including but not limited to texts, graphics, images, photographs, designs, and the Website’s structure, constitutes the intellectual property of NCSR Demokritos and is protected under applicable national, EU, and international law.
Material produced by NCSR “D” in the framework of the collaboration for the Conference (including, indicatively, posters, audiovisual material and digital communication material) shall be owned by NCSR “D”, without prejudice to the rights of the respective authors, and may be used by the co-organisers exclusively for the purposes of promoting and communicating the Conference, without any transfer or further assignment of exploitation rights. Any other use, reproduction, distribution or modification of the content of the Website is not permitted without the prior written consent of NCSR “D”.
The content of the Website is freely available to Visitors for any lawful use. Republishing parts of the Website content for educational and/or research purposes is also permitted, provided that such content is not modified or altered in any way and that proper and clear attribution to the original source is included, along with the date of publication and a hyperlink to the Website, where applicable. In all cases, all intellectual property rights regarding the content and any copies created from it are retained.
Content that constitutes third-party intellectual property and does not belong to NCSR Demokritos is not covered by this license. For the use of such content, interested parties must seek permission from the respective rights holders.
Links to Third-Party Websites
The Website may provide access to third-party websites and organizations through appropriate links, solely for the purpose of facilitating and enhancing Visitors’ information regarding research activities or relevant topics. The third-party websites to which these links refer are governed by their own terms of use, which Visitors are advised to review prior to using such websites.
The inclusion of such links on the Website does not constitute an endorsement or adoption of their content of such third-party websites by NCSR Demokritos. NCSR Demokritos does not guarantee, and shall bear no responsibility for, the accuracy or completeness of their content, nor for the data protection policies they follow.
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
The Terms of Use are governed by and interpreted in accordance with applicable Greek and EU law, the relevant international treaties and the principle of good faith. Any provision of the Terms of Use that is found to be contrary to the applicable legal framework or rendered invalid shall automatically cease to apply, without affecting the validity of the remaining provisions.
Any dispute arising from the use of the Website that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Athens, Greece.
Amendments to the Terms of Use
The Terms of Use bind solely NCSR Demokritos and the Visitors, constituting the entire agreement between them. NCSR Demokritos reserves the unilateral right to amend the Terms of Use at any time, in accordance with the operational needs of the Website or changes in applicable law. No amendment to the Terms of Use shall be recognized or form part of this agreement unless it is made in writing and incorporated into the Terms of Use.
Any amendments become effect upon their publication on the Website. For this reason, Visitors are advised to review the Terms of Use regularly to remain informed.
