Department of Social Anthropology, Panteion University
The Department of Social Anthropology at Panteion University was established in 2004 and is currently the only Department in Greece devoted exclusively to social anthropology. It promotes critical and comparative research on contemporary societies and cultures, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
National Centre for Scientific Research "Demokritos"

The Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) is a leading hub for AI, Natural Language Processing, intelligent systems, and web and network technologies. IIT’s work contributes directly to the development of open, trustworthy, and human-centered digital infrastructures. Its research spans AI ethics, autonomous systems, big data, and next-generation networks, while collaborations with industry and public institutions help translate research into tools that strengthen digital commons. Grounded in interdisciplinary partnerships across NCSR Demokritos and the broader European research ecosystem, IIT advances technologies that promote autonomy, transparency, and equitable access in the digital sphere.
Building on its long-standing commitment to bridging technology and society, NCSR Demokritos, in collaboration with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, has developed AiTHERION, a dialogue hub and a cultural space that fosters technology-driven cultural experiences on ancient Greek philosophy.
